I am having auditions for my new movie "Aberrant Behavior" Saturday June Seventh at Mamma Buzz Cafe in downtown Oaklands Art District 2318 Telegraph Ave from 4-6PM. If your interested in the movie you can e-mail me at: aberrantbehaviormovie@gmail.com. I have already casted some of the roles and have people working on it, I just have not cast all of them yet and of course the female lead.

There will be some paid roles (of course the leads) but this is a low budget (around 25-35,000 or so) affair so it won't be a whole lot. Just to warn you.

Aberrant Behavior, is basically a love story about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. They have a very co-dependent relationship and with there disorders too , they literally destroy each other.

There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

THERE WILL BE SOME SEXUALITY AND NUDITY FOR THE TWO LEADS, AS WELL AS MISTY AND FOGGY TO A LESSER DEGREE. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME FOR THOSE ROLES, IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THAT. THANK YOU.

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:

LEADS:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin. Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice. He falls in love with Aiko. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUALS SITUATIONS REQUIRED-CAST

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered. She falls in love with Victor. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS REQUIRED.

SUPPORTING LEADS:
Pedida Muertos- (20's -40's)-Mexican- Victor's nearly catatonic - mute drug addict mother, who is usually messing around with strange men, and drugged up. Mostly abuses Victor through neglect. Mostly shown in flashbacks, but one scene in present as well. Young actress aged to look older in present, or vice versa.

Misty & Foggy (20's) two girls that Victor and Chad meet at the bar, who are wasted, and act and look like twins. Very ditzy, drunk, corporate, normal. They take Victor and Chad back to there place. Drunken debauchery ensues.

Spic 'N' Span (20's -40's)- One of the horrible mascots for the advertising firm Victor works for, "Spic n Span's Whiten it up" Cleaning product. They play racist cliched versions of mexican house workers. Think Samo. It's meant to be horrible, and it of course offends Victor.

Aiko's Father-
A militant cold hearted man who sexually abuses aiko. Must be bilingual Japanese & English

Aiko's Mother-
Always screaming at Aikos father. Bi-lingual fluent in German & English

VARIOUS:
Hipster's (18-30) Some with speaking roles. A house party Victor crashes.

Office workers (20's -on) Some with speaking roles.

Various small roles for the horrible commercials and promo's from the firm Victor briefly works for

Other roles as well-Not listed

I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work.

I have a new movie called "Aberrant Behavior" auditioning Sat. 1/19 3:30-6:3- at the Dark Room SF 2263 Mission off of 19th and Mission@ 3:30 - 6:30. (My first movie "the period" came out through Sub Rosa Cinema can be seen/bought at Netflix www.myspace.com/theperiodmovie, as well as various other outlets)
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction.
She falls in love with Victor.

Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

thanks for reading

I have a play titled “Chola” I am getting ready to bring to the stage in the spring of 2008, but before I do I want to make sure it is as good as it can be. This play is registered with the Writers Guild of America, but I am looking for readers to give me an honest critique to see if I want to make any changes while there is still time.

A brief synopsis:

What if a female Latina gangbanger moves from the big city to a small community to stay with her aunt and uncle, but she brings her colorful ways with her?

CHOLA The Play will take you on a journey as Lupe, a nineteen-year-old Chola from Fontana, California arrives at her relatives’ home and the drama begins.

The last census showed 228 people in the town, though technically it wasn’t really a township. Not Yet. Perhaps in a few years they’d get around to it, but there was no hurry. Things were slow out here. Life was predictable, simple, quiet. At least until Lupe arrived.

So what does a Chola do in such a remote place to keep from getting bored? Old habits die hard, they say. And as Lupe goes about “fitting in,” her big city ways soon bump up against the local lifestyle.

If you are interested in reading it, message me with your email and I will send it to you.

Thirty-five naked five-year-olds face their first Swimming Lesson at the YWCA; the class trip discovers How Things Work at the slaughterhouse, and the perpetual neighborhood baseball game get called for the falling Fighter Pilot. Alternately amazed and determined, a boy navigates the ambushes of his daily life as death passes by and sometimes circles nearer.

In laugh out loud and touching episodes, Steven calls up the everyday and the fantastic, discovering the feelings and experiences that connect us all.

I am looking for a few directors/producers to read a new play. The play
Finding Forever” is a romantic comedy in two acts.

Emma and Jansen Foyle, are celebrating their fiftieth anniversary. Emma is a professor of English Literature, and Jansen a retired engineer. Flashbacks to their youth pull audiences along through moments in time as they play their ingenious word games, build their family and tease the neighbors. They write FIMMAH to one another as a secret code – leaving it on cookies, writing it on notes and in chalk throughout the yard – a private acronym that captures their devotion to one another, a declaration of love known only to the two of them.

Their granddaughter, Theresa, has watched them grow old together. She and her suitor, Stephen, wonder if they will every have such an intensely focused relationship. They learn about true commitment and love as Jansen toasts his life with Emma “the woman who sustained me in sickness and health, in lean times and in plenty…from Niagara to Viagra.”

If you would like to read the script on line, please let me know.

2006 Summer Mime Workshop with Samuel Avital (Review)

Hello fellow theatre enthusiasts.
The 35th annual Summer Mime Workspace with Samuel Avital has recently come to a close and here I am to share a few of my impressions with you.
Have you ever had the precious experience of coming together with a small group of like minded human beings to do a kind of work which it felt like you were on this earth to do? This is what the SUmmer Mime Workspace was like for me. Samuel Avital seemes to me to be a rare and precious teacher. He sees the good in all human beings and he encourages us to leap from the valleys of mediocrity to the peaks of excellence. To encounter the work of Mime is to be immediately stripped of pretense because though we can obscure the truth with our words, the body is totally honest.
Have you heard the proverb, "The camel never sees it's own hump?" There were many times during the Mime Workshop when I thought that I understood how to manifest a particular technique until Samuel brought me in front of the group to demonstrate. By watching how I moved my body, everybody in the group could see the nature of my misunderstanding, even when I couldn't. Thankfully Samuel is able to reflect limitations so that they can be seen and so we can work in a directed way to restore our natural ways of moving in the world. The experience was humbling without being humiliating.
Samuel has a good heart and has a wide open sense of humor that arises from a very large perspective of living on this planet. He was raised in Morocco by a family with deep spiritual roots in the Kabbalah. After many adventures, Samuel arived in Paris to study closely with Etienne Decroux as well as Marcel Marceau and Jean-Louis Barrault. Samuel toured Europe for years with Maximilian Decroux before coming to America to perform teach and finally settle around Boulder,Colorado where he has guided many people towards a vital means of authentic creative expression.
Everyone who participated in this summer workshop came away feeling gratitude and inspiration.
Here's a brief summary of things I learned.
Manifesting mental images into physical body positions forms the basis of a precise mode of expression.
Exaggeration is accomplished by relaxing the body so that emotional energy can circulate more freely.
Culturally conditioned anxieties and tensions restrict theatrical expressions. Becoming a good actor requires significant unconditioning.
Assuming new positions awakens unique perspectives and intelligence in the body.
In order to lead without coercion, an atmosphere of trust must be present. Aberrant muscle tension and resistance are physical manifestations of mistrust.
It is a great art to trust and learn to allow natural responses to gentle touch.
In Mime we must learn the art of being simultaneously alert and relaxed.
This path of Mime requires clarity of focus, vibrancy of imagination, precision of execution, release of inhibition, and a longing to draw near the source of our creativity. For me, Mime has awakened a wish to relax and expand into an authentic way of creative being.
After so many words about the silent art of mime, I feel like I barely scratched the surface of this wonderful experience.
If you want to learn more about Samuel Avital and his work, visit his website at www.bodyspeak.com.
There's also an extraordinary recent interview with Samuel posted at www.kabbalahnow.indranet.com/about/ijhc.html

I took her to an audition, last night, for our local community theatre's production of Agatha Christie's Black Coffee. She begged me to audition with her. What do you know...

I've been cast as Dr. Carelli. A juicy part, to be sure, because everyone suspects him!

I can do almost any accent and have been told, for years, that I should do voice work. However, my Italian accents are limited to Brando as Don Corlione or a pathetic imitation of Father Guido Sarducci. Does anyone know where I can find some resources (sound bites or just written tips) and make this refined Italian who speaks impeccable English (a la 1930s Britain) with just a hint of Italy more believable and less comical?

I've done community theatre before, many times, from behind the sound or lighting control boards. This will be my first foray onto the stage since High School. I'm so excited!

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Id like to get back into learning, developing acting though cant afford the fees for most private and group acting classes ive heard about.
I had started attending Napa Valley Colleges basic acting class last year, but moved farther south during it and was unable to finish it. The teacher seemed competent and focused, which i appreciated.
Though some people dont feel the difference warrents distinction, I am more interested in the subtler, natural feeling often found taught and expressed in acting for film rather then the exagerated, overly theatrical or shakesperian melodrama often found in classes focused associated with many theater or drama classes.
Im a relative beginner in acting, with only a few basic acting classes since 1985.
And prefer classes taught / held in the east or north bay, rather then san francisco as the commute to sf is too much and too expensive & unpredictable for parking, which is an extra hassle i dont want right now.

Any recommendations are appreciated.
A Light in the Dark explores the moment of death, before losing consciousness, finding oneself in this light in the dark, needing desperately to find some closure, some purpose - some life - before letting go entirely. In this moment, grappling with the complexities of life, love, liberty and language itself, we give way to realize the many faces of a single person in a single moment, and the vital importance of ourselves and the people around us.

It can be tragic, like the man who died of a heart attack during the opening weeks of The Phantom of the Opera, because he didn't know the chandelier falling from the ceiling of the Broadway theatre was a prop.

It can be humorous, like the small Alabama theatre where an actress, playing a mother putting a pie in a working oven, burned down the whole set, forcing the audience to leave for twenty minutes, come back and watch the rest of the show with no set and a lingering smell of smoke.

Lunfan is seeking fabulous movement based actors for a special performance
of EO 9066 as well as a school tour of Reframing the Hourglass.

Executive order 9066 will be performed at the 60th anniversary of the
closing of topaz, a japanese internment camp in utah. You will be performing
the piece for the very people who inspired its creation.

For more information about the piece you can follow the link below.

http://www.lunfan.com/shows/2003_eo9066.html

Here are the details and money info below.
(Total project fee for both projects is $2250 and you get to travel to
Utah!!!!)

- Rehearsals would start ASAP – like next week – and run about 4 per
week for 4 weeks. (4 hours per rehearsal) They would be scheduled around
your availability. They will either be at the Marsh in SF mornings 10:30
-2:30 or week day evenings 6:00-10:00pm

- The first set of shows is in Topaz, Utah on the weekend of June
11th. We would fly out on thrusday june 9 and come back Sunday june12. We
would do two shows – one of them at a High School june10 and the other at
the actual internment camp site with an audience of people who were in the
camp (wow!) june 11. Air travel and lodging is included and you would each
be paid $250 for the weekend.

The second set of shows is the award winning reframing the hourglass. So we
have to learn a new show, but here is the scoop.

- We are also negotiating a contract with Julia Morgan center to do this
same show as a part of their arts in schools program. For this, there would
be 2 shows during the summer, 8-10 shows in the fall and 8-10 shows in the
spring. you would each be payed $100 for each show.

- The summer shows will be 2 daytime shows on June 22 or 23 and 2
daytime shows on the week of June 27-July 1. The fall and spring shows would
be during the school day (morning or afternoon,) but could be scheduled
around our availability.

Hi artists,

So the deal is, I’m casting a brand-new reality show on engaged couples. It’s for a major network (sorry, can’t specify which of the 4 it is) on the prime-time schedule for next season. If you’re engaged to be married or seriously considering getting engaged, you might be right for us. We’re looking for artistic guys who might have some issues with their future mother-in-law. I know, everyone gets along perfectly with their girlfriend's mom, right? Yeah. Sure. :) (Like she doesn't care that you have no job and are a struggling artist; like she wouldn't rather her daughter marry some rich banker...)

If you cringe at the idea of calling your partner's mother "Mom" once you're married, then our show is here to resolve the issue. And, like many reality shows, there's a healthy reward for couples who make the final cast. It's a family-oriented show (we want kids to be able to watch it as well) and it's going to be a lot of fun! If you’re interested or know someone who might be, then let me know – you can send me a message here, or go to this website and fill out an application:

Agent? Manager? Do It Yourself?

I recently got an email (one of dozens I've gotten on
this subject) asking me if I could - "explain the
difference between an agent and a manager and which
would be better for me to sign with - to get my career
going?"

Here's my answer:

Dear *****,

Neither an agent or a manager can help you "get a
career going."

The concept that a powerful man or woman can step in
and help you skip all the hard work involved in
starting an acting career - is a "fairy tale."

There is no short-cut to the top of show business (or
even to the middle for that matter). There's also no
Great Pumpkin or Easter Bunny.

If it could be done this way, then agents and managers
would simply pick any actor out of the thousands of
headshots they get every week and turn them into stars.

It cannot be done this way - which is why agents are
so unresponsive to unsolicited headshot mailings.

The good ones are pros and they're not going to waste
their valuable time trying to accomplish what they know
cannot be done.

Their businesses are similar - but not the same.

One sells a product. The agent is a sales person for
the product known as YOU. Sales people (agents) judge
their how well their business is going by how much
money they make. A really good sales professional likes
to make lots of money.

If your product is not saleable (one that people aren't
ready to buy yet) then a sales person won't make a lot
of money selling it (you).

Not surprisingly, agents are coldly business-like about
this part. Until you've managed to start your career
yourself (making money as an actor) don't expect any
really good sales people to be interested.

Managers are just what the word implies. The manage
things. Mailings, bookings, transportation, job offers,
promotion - the day to day business of YOU. (But keep
in mind that in most markets, they are precluded
by law from seeking work for you.)

The top managers are usually the top managers because
they manage very successful careers.

In the past two decades the professional manager class
has had its own difficulties with an influx of "bottom
feeders."

The worst of these are outright crooks, whose only goal
is to separate you from you money or your credit card
with no intention of helping you in any way.

Almost as bad are the ineffectual show biz hangers-on
who rent offices and go about the business of "signing"
practically anyone who walks through their door - then
what they do is they send out your pictures to every
little thing listed in the Breakdowns.

It's just postage.

Since these folks are generally clueless themselves,
they will submit you for stuff you aren't right for.
This is a good way to get labeled as a "clueless"
actor by the casting people.

Many young actors are fooled into thinking that they
must have a manager, any manager - that it's "good
business".

It isn't.

In reality you are signing an agreement to give someone
25% (or more) of your income after YOU successfully
ESTABLISH YOURSELF as an actor who makes money.

Bottom feeders spend a great deal of their business day
writing threatening letters to collect money from actors
who have realized their mistake and don't want to pay 25%
of their income for someone to do ineffective mailings.

The big boys (and girls) in the management game, are
just like agents when it comes to money. They want to
manage a "going concern" and they spend all their time
looking for the next "big thing."

Think about that.

Professional managers make a boatload of money when
they manage to sign on with a Vin Diesel or J-Lo - isn't
it reasonable to assume that they are LOOKING ALL THE
TIME. In fact, they hire people to look - they've got
part-time, secret lookers on their payroll.

Believe me, If you have what they want - if you are a
going concern with a name that you've made for yourself
- they know their managing skills will take you to a
whole new level (making LOTS of money) and they get a
big chunk of a LOT - then, believe me, they will seek
you out.

3. Most importantly, as long as you continue to
believe that your main job is looking for someone else
to help you "build" your career -- you won't be spending
enough time doing the crucial things you need to do
yourself to build your own career.

This is a very bad tactic which results in frustration,
wasted years and, ultimately, failure to achieve what
you want.

If you don't concentrate on doing your part it's
unlikely that you will ever build your business into
something big enough to be noticed by a good agent or
a good manager.

In other words, by all means keep looking for a sales
staff, and a management team - but don't neglect your
business while you're doing it.

Hope that helps.

P.S. A lot of you have written to asking me how to get
When you get to the freebees page, sign up for my
your acting career and comes to you once a month.

You will get an email from me asking you to "confirm"
your subscription (this is so people won't sign up
other people without permission) when you confirm that
you signed up, you will get another email (in about 24
hours) that gives you the download instructions for
The "Hello Pages."

I know it's a little round-about, but I hate being

Hi.
I am starting a new theatre/talent company in the Los Angeles area.
This will give anyone who is a member of it, real publicity, even if you live far from L.A.
The idea is, to give all members of the company, advertising space in all the programs of all the shows that we do.
That will include, plays, modeling shows, and anything that we do.
If you are an actor, model, or someone who wants to get notice in the entertainment industry, then you can have your picture, bio, e-mail address, and more in every program.
That way, if you live far from Hollywood, or, are not in a show, you still get notice.
If you are a business, then you can take out advertising space, and become a member without paying membership dues.
I want a quality company, that gives back to the community, and one that brings customers to any business that is a part of this.
I LOVE the idea.
Entertainment and business have been very successful together for years, and advertising combined with people who have an eye for success, well, wins.
Please look at my profile at Myspace.com for more details.
